This codex contains the eleven biblical books of the Wriings (Hagiographa). Most of the books are triple or double versions, which in addition to the Hebrew contain Aramaic Targum and Sa`adia Ga'on's Tafsir in Judeo-Arabic (triple versions), or just the Hebrew and the Tafsir (double versions).
Details of the individual books as they appear in the codex in order are as follows:
- Ruth with Targum and Tafsir (followed by some midrash in Judeo-Arabic and Hebrew). Note that the beginning is damaged and some pages are missing.
- Psalms with Tafsir.
- Job with Tafsir.
- Proverbs with Tafsir.
- Ecclesiastes with Targum and Tafsir.
- Song of Songs with Targum and Tafsir.
- Lamentations with Targum and Tafsir (preceded by some midrash in Judeo-Arabic).
- Daniel with Tafsir.
- Esther with Targum and Tafsir.
- Ezra (Hebrew only).
- Chronicles (Hebrew only). Note that material is missing at the end, from 2 Chronicles 34:29.
In the codex, Chronicles is followed by an essay in Judeo-Arabic on the accents of the three poetic books: Psalms, Job, and Proverbs (the essay is written in three columns per page in small print). At the very end of the volume, a single folio from the Torah (Leviticus) with masoretic notes and Targum Onkelos are appended.
The order of the books in the codex follows the Babylonian Talmud (
Bava Batra 14b) and Maimonides (
Laws of Tefillin, Mezuzah and a Torah Scroll 7:15). The Five Scrolls (Ruth, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Lamentations, Esther) have both Targum and
Tafsir. The three poetic books (Psalms, Job, Proverbs) and Daniel have
Tafsir but no Targum. The two books at the end of the Writings (Ezra and Chronicles) are in Hebrew alone.
